CO-WY AMP International Research Experience (IRE)

The Colorado-Wyoming Alliance for Minority Participation (CO-WY AMP) has developed the International Research Initiative (IRE) for students at both 2-year and 4-year institutions to provide laboratory research or field experiences at international locations. As part of the IRE program, students are provided transportation and additional funds to cover housing or incidental costs, as needed. The international program must have a clear scope of STEM research or field experience that involves a faculty mentor with on-site supervision for the duration of the project. Duration of the project/research is subject to approval, but a two-week (or longer) period is suggested, as anything shorter will need additional justification. All students involved in CO-WY AMP’s IRE agree to participate in follow-up surveys in order to establish the effectiveness of programming.

Please return completed applications to your campus CO-WY AMP Site Coordinator. Please see the CO-WY AMP Directory for contact information.

Additional Requirements:

• A pre-trip questionnaire will be requested and must be returned before travel funds will be released.

• Following the research experience, award recipients will be required to complete a post-trip questionnaire, submit photos from their trip, and submit a 1-2 page post-experience essay on what they gained from the experience and how the experience met (or didn't meet) their expectations.

• There is no minimum GPA requirement to apply for the IRE, but applicants must be in good academic standing.
